KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A groundbreaking ceremony on Kalamazoo’s Tiny Houses of Hope project will be held Thursday.
It is designed to help the local residents who may have the toughest time of all trying to secure housing, who are not only low income, but have a criminal background or a history of substance abuse disorder.
Gwendolyn Hooker with the Hope Network says she began raising money in 2019 for the project which has faced many obstacles, until now.
She says the first three tiny homes will be 400-square feet, and they hope to build more.
The county board approved $300,000 for the first phase of the project on Tuesday.
The groundbreaking will be held at the corner of Westnedge and West North Street at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
