GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Kalamazoo man who police say posed as a woman online to entice boys to send nude photos of themselves to him was sentenced to almost 20 years in prison Tuesday.
Tariq Andrew Gillam plead guilty to a federal child pornography charge in December 2023. He had originally been indicted last June on six counts of receiving child pornography through Facebook Messenger.
Investigators say he used the online name “Shay Nicole” on Facebook and convinced three boys to create and send sexually explicit images of themselves.
A federal judge in Grand Rapids also placed Gillam on supervised release for 10 years after his prison term of 19.5 years ends, and ordered him to pay a $5,000 fine under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act.
Court records show the boys were ages 10, 11, and 14 when the incidents occurred.
