KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo city commissioners are expected to pass a resolution this evening declaring this National Work Zone Awareness Week, something that drivers around town are probably already painfully aware of.
Public Services director Jim Baker says it’s already a busy construction season.
He says work on the big projects will go through November.
The Inkster Street bridge has been removed, but demolition is the easy part. The time consuming part is replacing it.
Tonight, city commissioners are expected to approve a two-million-dollar contract to begin design work for the two-way conversion of Michigan Avenue. Planning is already underway to convert Kalamazoo Avenue to two-way, ensuring traffic disruptions and detours for years to come.
