COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A 19-year-old male from Battle Creek is among three persons who have been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Branch County’s Coldwater Township.
The Michigan State Police said in a news release they issued on Monday that they were dispatched on March 1 at about 8:00 p.m. to a stabbing incident involving two males on Paradise Island Drive.
The 28-year-old stabbing victim from Ohio was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious internal injuries that required surgery.
State Police said their investigation discovered that an argument broke out between the victim and the 19-year-old male from Battle Creek.
They say the victim was stabbed multiple times and tried to defend himself with a pistol but a witness intervened. Two females from Coldwater assisted the suspect in fleeing the scene and the area for a time.
Arrest warrants were later secured for the 19-year-old and the two females. The females, who are 24 and 19-years-old, turned themselves in Monday at the Branch County Jail.
State Police say they have been charged with felony accessory after the fact and felony obstruction.
The suspect from Battle Creek has been charged with attempted murder. He was also arrested Monday in Battle Creek without incident by the Michigan State Police 5th District Fugitive team and lodged in the Branch County jail.
The names for all three suspects will be withheld pending their upcoming court hearings.
