MARCELLUS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Cass County man may not have won the huge multi-million dollar Powerball jackpot earlier this month, but his $1 million Powerball prize was enough to take the day off work to celebrate!
Tori Simpson of Marcellus matched the five white balls in the March 16 drawing, but missed matching the red Powerball that would have given him the full jackpot. He bought his winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.
Simpson told lottery officials, “I logged into the app before heading to work the morning after the drawing to see if maybe I won the jackpot and didn’t have to work anymore. It may not have been the jackpot, but it was quite shocking when I logged into my account and saw $1 million pending. Needless to say, I didn’t end up going into work that day.”
The 55-year-old Simpson says with his winnings, he plans to build a new home and save for retirement.
