PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – In an effort that Michigan State Police say has resulted in making hundreds of households in Kalamazoo and Van Buren counties safer, a total of 170 pistol gun safes and 49 rifle cable locks have been distributed by the MSP Paw Paw Post.
State Police say all the safes and long-gun cable locks they had have been handed out in just two days, and there are no immediate plans to obtain more safes. However, the Paw Paw Post will be restocking more long-gun cable locks that will be made available to the public at no-charge in late of April or sooner.
Michigan State Police at the Paw Paw Post partnered with Bronson Trauma Injury Prevention Services and Borgess Trauma Injury Prevention Services to obtain grant funding to pay for the program.
