Kalamazoo hotel fire under investigation for being suspicious

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The fire at the Days Inn and Suites in Kalamazoo near the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport is being investigated as being suspicious.

Kalamazoo fire marshal Scott Brooks says it started in a conference room on the second floor that no one should have been in when the fire started Sunday afternoon a little before 2 p.m. and they are looking at surveillance video.

Only seven rooms of the hotel were occupied and some of them were extended stay guests.

The hotel has been condemned due to the damage.
