SPRINGFIELD, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A dispute over the placement of eggs for an Easter egg hunt led to a stabbing on Sunday morning at the Valley View Elementary School in Springfield.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says their Springfield Division was dispatched at about 9:15 a.m..
They report that while an Easter egg hunt event was being set up for later in the day, a man and a woman got into a disagreement about the placement of eggs.
When a family member intervened, the 36-year-old Battle Creek man produced a knife, cutting the family member multiple times.
Deputies convinced the suspect to drop the knife and he was taken into custody. The victim was treated at the scene for minor lacerations.
The suspect was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail for aggravated assault.
No one else was injured during the incident and children had not yet arrived for the Easter Egg hunt.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by LifeCare Ambulance.
