LANSING, MI — A local UAW union that represents GM workers at the automaker’s Delta Township plant has announced on its Facebook page that it is preparing for a third shift at the plant south of Lansing.
“We wanted to share with all of you that we have begun preparing to add a third shift, which was announced (by GM) in July 2023. Specific timing details are being finalized with staffing to begin soon,” Local UAW 602 announced earlier today.
The union local continued: “This is an exciting moment for LDT that will challenge us as we work to add so many new people and significantly boost production. But let’s take pride in how the new shift is a recognition of the confidence that the company has in our products and our commitment to quality that drives strong demand for them. For now, let’s stay focused on launching our newly redesigned models.”
