SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The South Haven City Council has voted 4-to-1 this week to have a plan drafted that could possibly be used to reintroduce lifeguards to Lake Michigan in the city.
They have asked South Haven Ambassador Program Education’s Heather Welsh-Johnson to get information from water safety experts for the plan.
Councilmember Wendi Onuki says it’s something she feels is very important for people and councilmember Letitia Wilkins notes the city is not spending money or creating a position, but asking for information.
Four people drowned in South Haven in 2022, and no one died there last year.
