PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Authorities are investigating the death of a six-week-old in Portage Sunday.
At 10:20 a.m. personnel from the Portage Department of Public Safety, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, and Life Ambulance responded
to an address in the 2300 block of Helen Avenue for a report of an infant not breathing.
When they arrived they found an unresponsive infant male.
Personnel attempted life saving measures, but the child was ultimately
pronounced deceased.
A news release Sunday afternoon said the cause of the infant’s death is unclear.
Portage Police along with the Kalamazoo County Medical Examiner’s office are investigating the death, and they say they expect more information after an autopsy is performed.
