MARSHALL, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Michigan State Police at Marshall has announced the passing of their K-9 officer Solo.
The 6-year-old German Sheperd died on Wednesday, March 6 following emergency surgery for a twisted stomach.
As it turns out the surgery would not have been successful, so it was decided to euthanize him.
Trooper Jereme Miller served as his handler for five years.
Marshall Post Commander First Lt. Barry Schrader said in a statement, “This is a huge blow to the Marshall Post family, and as you can all imagine, a bigger impact on Trooper Miller and his family. In speaking with Trooper Miller, Solo finished his career like a trooper would.”
State Police say Solo helped secure four kilos of methamphetamine during a search warrant just hours before his medical emergency.
Miller and Solo had 68 successful apprehensions.
