LANSING, MI — Not too many road construction projects get their own website, but this one does. Extensive construction will begin on March 11 along the US-127 corridor, lasting throughout the remainder of the year. MDOT is strongly advising commuters to proactively plan their routes and explore alternative paths to minimize potential disruptions to their daily commutes.
Beginning Monday the northbound lanes of the freeway will close for reconstruction from I-96 north to I-496 in Lansing. MDOT says it will convert one lane from the southbound lanes to northbound traffic. Long delays near and around the project are expected. The process will be flipped in 2025 with SB US-127 being rebuilt. Later plans call for US-127 between I-496 and I-69 in Clinton County being rebuilt. That project may stretch into 2027 and beyond.
To facilitate communication throughout the project, MDOT has established a website regarding this project . For inquiries about the project, you can email the department at MDOT-127Corridor@michigan.gov. Should further questions arise, please visit the project website at https://www.michigan.gov/127Corridor.
