LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A bipartisan bill to tackle increasing prices for insulin is being debated in a Michigan House committee.
Republican State Representative Curt VanderWall of Ludington introduced the bill last summer and says he wants to get the costs for insulin down to under $600 a year from the current $9,200 it costs.
The Committee on Health Policy recently heard testimony on the legislation. VanderWall says it will set up framework for the state to contract with a generic insulin provider to build and operate a facility to manufacture and distribute the medication.
