MARSHALL, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids has confirmed a tornado took place near Marshall during the early Wednesday morning hours which injured one person.
They say it was a strong EF1 tornado with a maximum wind speed of 110 mph that caused a lot of tree damage and some structural damage. Hundreds of trees were also knocked down.
The track was over five miles in length with a maximum width of 300 feet northeast of Marshall.
The twister touched down at 12:29 a.m. just east of I-69 and north of I-94 near 16 1/2 Mile Road.
It went northeast as it was on the ground for 11 minutes before lifting near 21 1/2 Mile Road and L Drive North.
It was one of two tornados confirmed in Michigan. The other was an EF2 tornado that hit Grand Blanc.
