KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One person suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot and crashing their vehicle Sunday afternoon in Kalamazoo.
Just after 5:00 p.m. Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the area of Michikal/Elm Crossover on report of a shooting. They found that three Kalamazoo area residents had been riding together in a vehicle when a passenger from another vehicle began shooting at them.
The driver suffered a gunshot wound and crashed into another vehicle due to being shot. The driver was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the third vehicle was uninjured.
KDPS says they have no suspects at this time, but in a news release Monday afternoon said “The people who commit these brazen acts of extreme violence have no regard for the citizens of our community and put everyone at risk. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, along with the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office, seeks to hold these violent criminals accountable for their deadly actions.”
Anyone with information on the shooting is being asked to call KDPS at (269)488-8911 or Silent Observer at (269)343-2100.
