KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) – Major investments for the City of Kalamazoo will happen along Westnedge Avenue and Whites Road this year, in addition to reconstruction of the Inkster Street Bridge and work on Ransom Street.
City officials say detours will be posted and drivers should expect delays during construction.
Details on the projects:
Westnedge Avenue (Whites to Vine) – Work will start in early March and be completed in two sections, starting with Whites Road to the Park Street/Westnedge Avenue split. Only southbound traffic will be allowed during construction. A detour will direct drivers around construction via Burdick Street.
Whites Road (Oakland to Westnedge) – Work will start in early March and Whites will be open to eastbound traffic only. Work near Oakwood Plaza will be completed as quickly as possible so that section of the street can reopen. The full project will last the entire construction season. A detour will take drivers around construction via Kilgore or Howard and Oakland.
Inkster St Bridge – Bridge work will start in March and will require closure of Bronson Blvd. We expect to reopen Bronson before the project is completed and will do so as quickly as possible. The bridge should be completed around Labor Day.
Ransom Street (Pitcher to Westnedge) – Work will start in early March focusing between Pitcher Street and Burdick Street. The street will be closed to through traffic but local access will be maintained.
