BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A 26 year-old Battle Creek man was taken into custody Wednesday morning after he caused a disturbance at the Calhoun County Jail.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says the unidentified man entered the bond lobby of the Calhoun County Jail and while holding a knife in his hand, began pounding on the entry door to the interior of the jail.
After seeing he had a knife, Corrections deputies requested additional law enforcement assistance via Calhoun County Dispatch.
The Sheriff’s Department says the man then began to break into the lobby’s ATM.
Corrections deputies electronically then locked the exterior door, and the man was unable to escape.
Battle Creek Police were to contact him from the outside of the building. The man eventually surrendered and was escorted into the jail.
