MINNEAPOLIS — Tuesday night was one of the more frustrating nights in Tom Izzo’s coaching career. He was downright distraught during his post game press conference room at Williams Arena in Minneapolis.
He was obviously frustrated after Michigan State suffered a 59-56 setback against the University of Minnesota after shooting just 7-for-17 from the free-throw line and collapsing at the end of the game. Turnovers by the Spartans in the first half against the Gophers was another point of frustration.
“I’m upset, I really am,” Izzo said during his presser. “I made it pretty clear that you got to win with your guards and guards are what win you down the stretch and you got to win with your coach and so the coach didn’t do enough job, could’ve called a timeout, could have done something else, maybe could have shot a free throw for them.”
The Spartans are now 6-6 in the Big Ten conference and return home to play Illinois on Saturday.
