HOMER, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A 26-year-old Jackson County man was arrested on Friday after the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says he crashed into a school bus in Homer and fled from the scene.
Deputies responded at approximately 3:50 p.m.. The school bus was occupied by its driver and a few children, and no one sustained injuries.
The suspect was located on 25 ½ Mile Rd near L Drive S, and was taken into custody.
According to a Sheriff’s Department news release, an investigation determined that the suspect was unlawfully in possession of a firearm, body armor, and burglary tools.
He was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on numerous felony and misdemeanor charges, including several firearms-related charges.
The crash remains under investigation by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
