LANSING, MI — According to the Michigan Department of Treasury, the department has millions of dollars in lost or forgotten assets–including dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, stock certificates and valuables left in safe deposit boxes.
February 1 is National Unclaimed Property Day, and the Michigan Treasury wants you to check to see if you have any.
“I encourage Michiganders to take a few moments out of their busy day to see if they have lost or unclaimed property,” said Terry Stanton, spokeman for the Michigan Treasury says.
To find out if you have unclaimed clash or property, go to Michigan’s Unclaimed Property website. You can also call the Michigan Treasury in Lansing at 517-636-5320.
