CAMDEN TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Four Battle Creek residents between the ages of 18 and 23 were lodged without bond in the Hillsdale County Jail on Wednesday following a business break in and pursuit in which speeds got up to as high as 125 miles an hour.
Michigan State Police say Troopers were dispatched to a business alarm in Camden Township at around midnight Tuesday night. When they arrived, State Police say the suspects who were wearing ski masks fled the scene in a vehicle.
The pursuit went into Branch County and eventually traveled north along I-69 with speeds near 125 miles an hour.
It exited I-69 at U.S. 12 and headed east before the pursuit went south on Willowbrook Road.
The suspect vehicle was stopped following a second pit maneuver attempt by a State Police Trooper.
All five suspects tried to flee. Two were apprehended following verbal orders by police. The other three were captured thanks to State Police K-9 “Solo”.
All of the suspects were brought back to Hillsdale County.
Booked on charges of breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools, fleeing and eluding, unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle and larceny from a vehicle were 19-year-old Dontay Dequan Brooks, 18-year-old Jeremiah Javon Smith, 18-year-old Milton Tyler Hudson and 23-year-old Treshaun Omeirr Boykins.
A fifth suspect who was a juvenile was turned over to their parents.
