GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A class-action lawsuit against the Michigan unemployment agency has concluded with a $20 million settlement approved by a judge.
People had been accused by the state of fraud between October 1, 2013 and March 9, 2015 and had their wages garnished or tax returns seized.
Over 3,200 people will get the full amount that the state seized returned to them with checks of over $5,100.
Some will also get hardship awards if they had financial difficulties after being accused wrongly of fraud.
