KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Ground could be broken this year on a downtown Kalamazoo event center and arena that has been talked about for more than 20 years.
Greenleaf Trust’s Bill Johnston unveiled drawings of the 380,000 square foot center that would be built along Kalamazoo Avenue, Westnedge Avenue, and Water Street.
Kalamazoo County sold the land in April for $4.2 million.
The Kalamazoo Wings and Western Michigan University hockey and basketball would play there, replacing the Wings Event Center, University Arena, and Lawson Ice Arena.
