CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Calhoun County Sheriff Steve Hinkley has announced a new recruitment program in which recruits can get paid to attend the police academy at Kellogg Community College then become a Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Deputy.
The Sheriff’s Office says in a press release this is the first time they have offered paid sponsorship for new recruits. Individuals will be paid as full-time employees and receive current incentives available for new employees. The MCOLES Police Academy will begin in September.
Those interested should apply at governmentjobs.com/careers/calhouncountymi. To be considered for employment, applicants should be at least 18 years old, be US citizens and have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. They must also have a valid driver’s license and never have been charged with a felony.
There are additional steps to the interview process to ensure qualifications for the MCOLES Academy and employment.
The Sheriff’s Office also seeks Corrections Deputies to work in the jail. New applicants qualify for the Sheriff’s Office incentive program.
