KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Western Michigan University has been named by Time Magazine as one of the Top 100 universities in the nation for turning out the nation’s leaders.
University President Edward Montgomery announced the designation at Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting. WMU is ranked #79 in the listing.
The University of Michigan is #9 and Michigan State University is #48 on the list.
The magazine examined the resumes of 2,000 top leaders in a wide range of fields and created the ranking based on the schools they attended.
The list, which is weighted for school size, is led by so-called Ivy Plus schools, with Harvard University the top school on the list. Many top schools training future leaders also have notable business and law programs, or are large research universities.
