DETROIT, MI — Just as Buick is cutting the number of its dealerships in half, another General Motors division says it is actually expanding its dealer count.
Cadillac says it has added dealerships in New York, Atlanta, California and Texas, but didn’t disclose how many dealerships it now has. In 2020, about 170-180 of Cadillac’s 870 U.S. dealerships took buy outs and closed rather than invest in selling and repairing electric vehicles.
Meanwhile, Cadillac officials say the company is increasing production of its Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV this year just as other car manufacturers are cutting EV production due to a lack of sales. Ford announced this week it is slowing production of its F-150 Lightning pickup truck due to a lack of demand.
