KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – After falling short by over 30% in the Christmas fundraising goal, officials with The Salvation Army of Kalamazoo are reaching out to the community to make up the shortfall.
In a news release Wednesday, the organization said the unforeseen setback has prompted them to reevaluate their programs and services in order to continue providing essential assistance to those in need.
According to Salvation Army Major Ronnie Amick, “This year has presented unique challenges, and the unexpected decline in donations is putting a strain on our ability to carry out our mission. We are grateful for the support we have received thus far, but we urgently need the community’s help to bridge the gap and ensure that no one is left without assistance during these challenging times.”
Amick says The Salvation Army is calling on individuals, businesses, and community partners to rally together to contribute to the organization’s ability to provide food, social services, youth programing, and other essential resources to those in need.
Donations can be sent to or dropped off at the Salvation Army’s local office at 1700 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
