PLAINWELL, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A former Martin school board member is the latest candidate to enter the race for the Michigan State House seat currently held by Republican Minority Leader Matt Hall.
Democrat Austin Marsman of Plainwell announced his candidacy at a community event Tuesday evening in Plainwell. He previously has run for Allegan County commissioner.
Hall was first elected in 2018 to represent District 63, before being elected to the District 42 seat in 2022. The district includes portions of Allegan and Kalamazoo counties.
Republican Richard Cutshaw Jr. of Scotts has filed with the Michigan Secretary of State’s office to challenge Hall in the August 2024 Republican primary.
