KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Today is the Martin Luther King Jr. National Holiday and that could mean some closures, over and above cancellations triggered by the weather, which in turn may also have an impact on some of the holiday events.
The city of Kalamazoo will once again be sponsoring their community-wide day of service, in cooperation with local non-profits. It starts with a free breakfast at Mayors Riverfront Park at 8:30 a.m.
That is Kalamazoo vice mayor Jeanne Hess.
If you can’t get to the organized event, Portage City Council Member Jihan Ain Young says you can create your own.
This afternoon, there will be a discussion on voter rights at the Galilee Baptist Church, sponsored by the NAACP and the League of Women Voters at 2:30.
