KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The suspect in a Thanksgiving Day shooting last November in Kalamazoo has been arrested and arraigned in Kalamazoo County District Court.
November 23, 2023 at about 2:14 a.m., officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the report of shots fired in the area of 700 Florence Street. The victim, a 24-year-old resident of Kalamazoo, sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and sought treatment at a local hospital.
The suspect, Charm Deanthony-Lee McFerrin, was not located at the time. A total of 9 shell casings in 9 mm were recovered.
This past Sunday McFerrin was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. He was arraigned Monday morning by District Court by Judge Tiffany Ankley and charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Felony Firearm x 2, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Bond was set at $500,000 cash or surety as requested by the Prosecuting Attorney.
