PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A four-year-old boy suffered multiple puncture wounds throughout his body after being attacked by the family dog Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., the Portage Department of Public Safety was called to a residence in the 1900 block of Pleasant Drive. When they arrived they found the child in the living room, semi-conscious, and suffering from the puncture wounds.
Personnel from the Fire Division and Life EMS Ambulance provided medical care to the boy, who was taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
The case remains under investigation by the Portage Department of Public Safety Detective Bureau. Kalamazoo County Family and Children Services assisted with the investigation, along with Kalamazoo County Animal Control, who took custody of three dogs in the home.
