PAW PAW, MI (WKZO-AM/FM) – If and when the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office get its hands on the perpetrator or perpetrators involved in a series of crimes during the early morning hours of Friday south of the Allegan County line, a slew of charges could be forthcoming.
In a department release, deputies reported that there were multiple vehicle larcenies, mailbox rifling, and a stolen vehicle involved in the offenses that occurred in Almena, Pine Grove and Bloomingdale townships, although it was not immediately determined if these crimes are all related, or if those involved were working together or not.
A stolen Jeep believed to be involved was recovered in Kalamazoo after initially being spotted in Allegan, but it was found unoccupied.
While there was no mention of whether the victimized vehicles were locked when they were broken into, the Sheriff’s department used the statement to remind residents about the importance of locking vehicles, taking the keys, and removing important belongings from inside.
No suspect or suspects were immediately identified or apprehended as the matter remains under investigation, and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office (269-657-3101), Van Buren County Crime Stoppers (800-342-7867), or Van Buren County Silent Observer (269-343-2100).
