PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The lawsuit filed by the families of two drowning victims against the city of South Haven has been transferred to federal court.
Twenty-two-year-old Kory Ernster of Novi and his 19-year-old girlfriend Emily MacDonald of Columbus, Michigan drowned August 8, 2022 after going into Lake Michigan despite yellow flags flying advising people of dangerous currents.
The families say the city was negligent and should have known how dangerous the lake was that day and didn’t close the beaches.
Emily’s mother Lisa MacDonald also says South Haven needs to hire lifeguards.
