KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo City Commission has approved an emergency resolution, in response to an act of antisemitism over the weekend.
Someone painted a Nazi swastika on a menorah and on the siding of the Chubad Community Center early Sunday. Member of the center painted over the grafitti later that day.
Michelle Serlin says this isn’t the only antisemitic act that she and the Jewish community in Kalamazoo have suffered. She told the Kalamazoo City Commission Monday she has personally received death threats.
Rabbi Mordecai Haller told the commission you don’t react to darkness with more darkness. He says they may organize a public event for December 7 so the community can get together to show that it stands for good and not evil.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is investigating the desecration of the center as a possible hate crime.
