DETROIT, MI — General Motors’ tentative labor deal with the United Auto Workers (UAW) union has won ratification. GM workers are the first of those at the Detroit Three automakers to approve the agreement.
Approval of the contract was by a 55% to 45% margin with nearly 36,000 GM workers having cast votes. The six week strike by GM workers, including workers at Lansing’s Delta Township plant, earned them a boost in wages and improved benefits, according to those familiar with the agreement.
Voting on tentative contracts at Ford and Stellantis continues this week, according to the UAW.
