LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A southwest Michigan Republican in the state House is pushing for the Legislature to be part-time.
Representative Brad Paquette of Niles says it makes better sense for Michigan to join 46 other states with part-time legislatures.
Democratic Representative Laurie Pohutsky of Livonia disagrees and says it will force people out of office if they pay and workload is cut.
Governor Whitmer said in a statement that it’s “curious” that Republicans “now want to push a proposal that would allow them to work less and take most of the year off.”
