BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Street construction season is not quite over in the City of Battle Creek. City contractor crews will pave sections of Beckley Road and Helmer Road this week, during the final phase of the new water main installation project.
Beckley Road from Helmer Road South to Minges Road South is scheduled to be paved on Monday and Tuesday. That section of Beckley Road is still closed to thru traffic, and will remain closed through the paving work.
Contractor crews will then mill and pave Helmer Road South, from the intersection of Helmer and the westbound I-94 entrance ramp to Beckley Road on Wednesday and Thursday. This section of Helmer Road is currently open to all traffic but it will be closed to thru traffic starting Wednesday.
Detours will be in place during the street work.
The city says this project has included removing the existing asphalt; installing new water main, fire hydrants, and water services to the right of way; and then finally repaving with new asphalt.
