KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Voters overwhelmingly approved a measure to fund veterans services in Kalamazoo County on Tuesday, in a way that few measures have passed. County commissioner John Gisler says he checked into the records.
The closest that’s ever happened was for medical marijuana in 2008 and even that was defeated in Alamo Township. County Administrator Kevin Catlin says it’s much appreciated by the County’s Veterans Board.
The approval to assess an additional 1/10 of a mill will fund counseling, emergency aid and burial costs for 12,000 indigent military veterans in Kalamazoo County.
