Police say the man who shot a woman in Kalamazoo Township Friday night also took his on life

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Police say a man who died in a shooting incident in the Lakeview Apartments complex in Kalamazoo Township took his own life after shooting a woman late Friday night

Around 11:00 p.m. the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department responded to a 911 call of shots fired inside of an apartment building in 1900 block of Colgrove Avenue. Officers arrived and located a 22-year-old male with a gunshot wound.

They say life saving measures were performed on the man on-scene prior to being transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

While investigating, officers learned of a 48-year-old female who arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. She was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

In a news release Tuesday morning, the police department confirmed the 22-year-old man was the shooter, and committed suicide before police arrived at the scene. They have not released a motive in the shooting.
