LANSING, MI — This is Children’s Grief Awareness Month, which provides an opportunity to recognize the need for support for these children and their families, and aims to make our society more grief-informed, where compassion and understanding become the norm, according to one mid-Michigan grief support facility.
Ele’s Place in Lansing is creating awareness of and support for grieving children, teens and their families, according to the organization’s leadership. Ele’s Place has provided free peer support groups and in-school grief programming to more than 32,000 children, teens, young adults and families over the past 32 years.
“Grief is the great equalizer,”says Kristine Kuhnert, regional director Ele’s Place Capital Region. “Children’s Grief Awareness Month provides an opportunity to help our society become more grief-informed, while connecting the community to vital resources like Ele’s Place.”
The non-profit has facilitator training this month for volunteers. To sponsor a child or schedule a tour, please call 517-482-1315 or email Dawn Haddad, director of development, at dhaddad@elesplace.org.
