CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Republican Calhoun County Commissioner Steve Frisbie of Pennfield Township has declared his candidacy for State Representative in Michigan’s 44th House District.
The seat is currently held by Democrat Jim Haadsma.
In announcing he was a candidate to a group of supporters at Milton Mezzanine, Frisbie says, “It’s time for a change. It’s time to get back to basics, a government that serves the people, not the whims of special interests. A government that’s transparent, open, and honest.”
Frisbie has been a Calhoun County Commissioner since January of 2011. He said during that time, “we’ve repaved over 200 miles of local roads and made significant improvements to the primary road system. We did it by implementing best practices and building relationships with local leaders and residents.”
He criticized Haadsma for not securing funding for a bridge in Sheridan Township which he said was “unsafe, crumbling, and now, closed…He has towed the party line time and again.”
