KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners has unanimously adopted their budget for next year, and Tuesday night patted themselves on the back for a job well done.
The budget deliberations were accomplished with very little of the rancor and disagreement that has delayed approval the past few years.
Commissioners acknowledged that, adding forward looking additions they have put into the spending plan, like 27 new positions, daycare and emergency assistance for employees, foreclosure assistance for residents, and other aspirational projects.
It was Administrator Kevin Catlin’s second Kalamazoo County budget.
The $352-million spending plan goes into effect January 1, 2023.
