CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Calhoun County’s Solid Waste Program has announced they will hold a pair of free recycling events during the month of October which are open to residents of Calhoun County. Only residential materials will be accepted at both events.
A Scrap Tire Collection will be held this Monday, October 9, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. at the Tekonsha Village Offices on North Church Street.
The collection may end early if the trailer is full. This collection is funded through an EGLE Scrap Tire Grant and is limited to passenger vehicle tires with or without rims.
Officials are unable to accept commercial business and farm tires as part of the tire disposal event. Because of EGLE Scrap Tire Grant rules, the number of scrap tires per vehicle to limited to ten.
In addition, there will be a Household Hazardous Waste Collection at Bailey Park in Battle Creek on Monday, October 16, from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m..
Those who attend are asked to enter on Wagner Drive. It’s requested all participants during these two events stay inside their vehicles.
