ST. JOHNS, MI — In a stunning twist, prosecutors in Clinton County on Tuesday dropped murder charges against one of two suspects in the shooting death of a deer hunter near Bath in 2018.
Robert Rodway of St. Johns was released from the Clinton County jail on the eve of his trial on charges of murdering Chong Mua Yang on Lansing at the Rose Lake Wildlife area. Rodway was charged along with Thomas Olson of Grand Blanc. It’s not clear if charges against Olson have also been withdrawn. His trial is still on the docket and set to begin Nov. 15.
The dismissal comes a few weeks after Rodway’s attorney said evidence the defense discovered pointed in the direction of another individual committing the crime. However, the defense attorney argued the evidence was ignored by Bath Township Police detectives.
