KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One of the two retired Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office detectives being sued for $100 million by Jeff Titus for wrongful conviction says “come on with it.”
Mike Brown had that reaction to learning he and retired Sergeant Michael Werkema are the targets of the lawsuit and says he never arrested anyone who was not guilty.
Attorney Wolf Mueller and Titus spoke yesterday as well, saying both detectives hid evidence in the case that was hidden for 20 years about convicted serial killer Thomas Dillon of Ohio, who was identified by witnesses as being near the Fulton State Game Area in Kalamazoo County where hunters Doug Estes and Jim Bennett were killed in 1990.
Titus spent 21 years in prison before his conviction was thrown out.
