KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners will discuss changing the name of their brand new $90-million courthouse which is still under construction on Kalamazoo Avenue.
The working name for the building has been the Kalamazoo County Justice Center, but county officials could be having second thoughts. An item on their regular Committee of the Whole Meeting Tuesday asks for a discussion on the building name, but doesn’t list any alternatives or where the request is coming from.
There could also be a cost involved if signs have already been ordered.
Commissioners learned last month that the project has been delayed by manpower shortages. It was set to open next month, but that has been pushed back to early December 2023.
