DOOR TOWNSHIP MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An Allegan County deputy was injured while making an arrest in Dorr Township Monday night.
The deputy was summoned around 10 pm on a report of a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and without headlights through a neighborhood.
An investigation resulted in the arrest of a 35 year old Dorr man, but during the arrest the suspect assaulted the deputy.
The deputy suffered head injuries and was unable to continue his duties.
A Michigan State Trooper who was assisting at the scene completed the arrest and also began first aid on the deputy.
The deputy was taken to an area hospital where he continues to receive treatment.
The suspect is lodged in the Allegan County Jail, facing several felony charges.
The Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police were also assisted on scene by the Gun Lake Tribal Police and The Wayland Police Dept.
