BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – There has been a change in the schedule for the rebuilding of the Capital Avenue bridge over I-94 in Battle Creek.
While it is still is expected to be completed by September 23, the Michigan Department of Transportation says the closure is being extended one week to September 30 in order to rebuild the westbound I-94 ramps.
The original schedule would have seen one lane of Capital Avenue reopen in each direction on September 23 with the westbound ramps closed for an additional six to eight weeks for rebuilding.
MDOT officials say by extending the Capital Avenue closure one week, the contractor is planning to rebuild the westbound ramps in two weeks, starting next Monday, September 18.
Work to rebuild the westbound ramps is expected to be completed Saturday, September 30.
