KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo City Commissioners have approved another term for Robert Salisbury, who serves on their Retirement Investment Committee, even though he is only a part time resident of the city.
Commissioner Quianna Decker raised the objection two weeks ago, but dropped it after hearing from the City Attorney that it’s permitted if City Commissioners approve a waiver for the rule that requires full time residency.
She says it appears after a review of the committee’s work, that their performance has been commendable.
City Attorney Arron Leal says the city does require committee members to live in the city, but it has never defined exactly what constitutes legal residency.
